Nainai is a last-minute addition to Pax's crew as an Anomal refugee. Her real name and actual Vocal powers are unknown.

History

Before the heist

Not much is known about Nainai's history in the American Republic, but she apparently got married eight times. For one of her relationships, she pretended to be a club owner's wife and a pole dancer at the same time, allowing her to scam a fortune out of multiple investors. The next morning, she married the club owner for real. She was exposed to the Broadcast in the year 2000, granting her Vocal powers. At some point, she makes contact with Desmond, a contractor who took on a job from the Weave to help refugees escape to Nova Scotia.

Issue 9: Rotown

On October 24, Nainai goes with Desmond to Rotown, a robot factory in Detroit, Michigan, in order to meet with Pax and Theo. Due to her uncooperative nature and annoyance at Desmond's sneezing, the two end up late to the meeting. She expresses surprise that the plan is to her have join the crew on their trip to Nova Scotia, since Desmond failed to properly inform her. When Justice surrounds Rotown due to Desmond's betrayal, Theo takes Nainai to the truck while the officers are busy fighting Pax, Ziggy, and Eli. When Pax arrives at the truck with a terrible stab wound, Nainai hugs Girl in order to comfort her.

Issue 10: The Maine Event

At the hospital in New York City, Nainai uses her Vocal to help the crew get into the underground parking garage, where they wait in Ruth's getaway van. After Pax is safely brought back, Nainai uses her Vocal again, allowing the crew to escape before the Puritans and Justice can find them. While on the van, Nainai questions Ruth about the traitor, Desmond. Ruth states that Desmond is a contractor and that the Weave is usually good at vetting its actual members, but Nainai remains skeptical of the Weave's competency. Near a sunken coastal town, Nainai talks about how one can go diving to find valuables and mentions her third husband. At Betty's Diner, Nainai states she had all eight of her wedding receptions at these establishments, and goes into detail about her relationship with a club owner.

At Schoodic Point, the crew splits into two teams to escape the Puritans and Justice, and Nainai goes with Noam, Theo, and Girl. Although she tries to use her Vocal to help them evade the authorities, they are eventually captured by the Puritan Overseer. After the Puritans are defeated, the boat arrives, with Nainai being the only character who is guaranteed to leave for Nova Scotia.

Appearance

Nainai is an elderly woman with white hair and gray eyes. She has two amputated legs and a white prosthetic right arm with a blue flower design. Her left leg stump has a black cover with a design consisting of aggressive eyes, a red nose, and an open mouth with sharp teeth. She wears a black cap with GILF printed in yellow on the underside of the visor, goggles wrapped around the cap, a yellow fingerless glove on her left hand, and red sleeveless vest with spikes adorning the collar. She rides in a rollball, which has a white chassis below the seat, a black seat, a black and orange backrest, and a spherical wheel that resembles an eight ball.

Personality

Nainai is introduced as an irritable person who has little patience for her handler, Desmond. She also takes pride in her rollball and gets offended if someone mistakes it for a wheelchair. However, she does show a more nurturing side at times, as shown when she holds Girl when the latter is distressed.

Abilities

Nainai's Vocal is unknown because the rest of the crew is too disturbed by it to talk about it. However, it is used in the operation to get into the hospital's parking lot and escape, as well as to help evade the crew's enemies at Schoodic Point, which hints that it has something to do with transportation.
